Getting a good night’s rest has a lot of health benefits to our body. But, because of our busy lifestyle we tend to have problems getting our much needed rest. Here are 9 awesome tips to help you:
Bathe in sunlight
Try to get plenty of natural light every morning to get a healthy dose of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to sleep problems.
Get some exercise
Exercise promotes better sleep but should not be done four hours before going to sleep. The endorphins and adrenaline would just keep you awake.
Keep a regular schedule
Sleep at regular times. Go to bed the same time every night and get up the same time every morning even on weekends. By this way, your body will be more accustomed to sleeping at the right time.
Avoid long naps
If you sleep in the middle of the day, then expect your regular night’s sleep to be worse. It is better to go to bed on time in the evening. If you are really used to taking naps, do not sleep for more than 20 minutes.
Avoid coffee, tea and cola
These beverages contain caffeine which has a stimulating effect. Avoid these 4-8 hours before you go to bed.
Relax and de-stress
Before going to bed, then you should do relaxing things such as turning off the apartment and lit candles, read a book or swim.
Pass on the alcohol
You might think that a nightcap might make you sleep better but the quality of sleep during might be much worse.
Forget your mobile phone
Audio from the mobile phone can really disturb your sleep. A couple of notifications would just keep you awake all night long.
Keep it quiet and dark
Your room should be quiet, dark and cool for you to easily fall asleep. The darkness can also stimulate your body to produce melatonin which can have a sedating effect.
